Zakaat

Zakaat Al-Maal &

Zakaat Al-Fitr

Zakat is an obligatory form of charity, and one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim who meets the eligibility criteria must pay Zakat.

We collect Zakat funds from our community and distribute these funds to the eight categories where Zakat should go according to Islamic law. This includes low-income families in our neighborhood, orphans, reverts, and those who need to pay debts.

There are two forms of Zakat: Zakat Al-Maal and Zakat Al-Fitr. Zakat Al-Maal is paid yearly, and it is 2.5% of your wealth. Zakat Al-Fitr is paid in Ramadan before the Eid Prayer, and it is the average price of a meal per member of your family, which changes every year due to inflation. In 2024, it was around $15.
